The Pipes & Drums of the Atlantic Watch, D-Day 85th anniversary
On June 6, 1944, Allied forces came ashore in Normandy. Eighty-five years later, on June 6, 2029, the Atlantic Watch intends to be there. We have been given the honor of performing at multiple locations in France for the 85th Remembrance of D-Day, joining people from around the world. Our plans take in historic sites, marches through Normandy villages, and the beaches themselves — played in remembrance of the Allied forces, and of those who never came home. Taking a pipe band across the Atlantic is not cheap. Instruments, uniforms, flights and accommodation all have to be paid for, and the band is funded by its members, its supporters and the events we play. Fundraising began years in advance and continues, including efforts intended specifically to offset the cost for the active-duty and retired service members traveling with us. If you would like to help send the band to Normandy, please get in touch.
