Learn Pipes or Drums
We teach the Great Highland Bagpipe and snare, tenor and bass drum. All ages, no experience needed, and lessons are free.
Nobody arrives able to play. Every piper in this band started on a practice
chanter, and every drummer started on a pad. If you can keep time and turn up
regularly, we will teach you the rest.
Instruction is free, and covers the Great Highland Bagpipe along with snare,
tenor and bass drum. Students of all ages are welcome and no previous
experience is required. Learners join us at weekly rehearsals and work toward
marching and performing with the band when they are ready.
Families are welcome to learn together — several of our members play alongside
a parent, a child or a spouse.
We also visit schools. Members introduce students to the history of the
bagpipes and drums, their Scottish roots and their ceremonial role, with live
playing throughout. It suits music classes, cultural celebrations and
assemblies. Get in touch if you would like to arrange a visit.
